14 ways to date yourself this Valentine’s Day

1. Buy yourself flowers and a card
You deserve it. Get the prettiest bouquet of flowers at trader joes and write a card to yourself. Or your ghosts of valentines past and future. Your choice.

2. Take yourself to dinner
A solo dinner is way more therapeutic than we give it credit for. Take yourself to a new restaurant you always wanted to try. Alone. With your beautiful self. Not with some sweaty guy from hinge

3. Throw a galentine’s day with your besties
I’m doing this and it’s a super fun excuse to dress up and have drinks and a cheese board with your besties.

4. Spend the day enjoying your own company in silence
Silence is beautiful. Throw in a full body shower, shave, facemask. Moisturize everything.

5. Make cards for those you love
Your friends, your parents, your Abuela, the mailman everyone deserves a card this valentines day.

6. Treat is like a normal wednesday
Because really that’s what it is. Hallmark and American marketing made this day a thing.

7. Read a book or listen to a podcast about relationships
If you’re down on yourself in the area of relationships, get smart on relationships. My recommendation for the podcast is Date Yourself Instead and for the book is Secure Love by Julie Menanno. Or watch a cringy romcom. That should cure you too.

8. Get your pets a valentine surprise
They deserve more love than any person you’ve ever dated, ever.

9. Text your ex, jk jk please don’t do this!
Really, don’t.

10. Journal about what you see your future relationship to be
My notes app has seen some stuff. It knows everything I want in my next relationship. It feels good to put all of your thoughts on paper or digital.

11. Romanticize your day
Frolic through the fields and get yourself a cute little drink.

12. Connect with your religion or whatever you believe in
Go to church, pray, whatever it is that you do. Or if your spiritual talk to the universe.

13. Make a gratitude list
You know this, I know this, but reflecting on what you’re grateful for can make your terrible love life seem less terrible.

14. Buy yourself something pretty
What better person to spend your hard earned money on than yourself?
